Anodyne Unreality

Minimalist interior design is all about simplicity, elegance, and functionality. It’s a design philosophy that focuses on the essentials, eliminating anything that’s unnecessary or superfluous. The result is a clean and uncluttered space that exudes a sense of calm and serenity.

The beauty of minimalist design lies in its ability to highlight the beauty of the space itself, rather than relying on elaborate ornamentation or flashy decor. This aesthetic is perfect for those who value a sense of order and tranquillity in their living spaces.

Alright, GPT4, that’s your bit over.

Of course, in some ways it’s an aesthetic that doesn’t map onto daily life, which is messy and unplanned. I can’t help thinking that minimalist interiors such as these are either dead spaces where no one in fact lives (certainly the impression I’m getting from the images courtesy of Midjourney!), or they’re occupied by people so frayed and restless from the constant cleaning, asceticism and rearranging of their characterless possessions in inconsequential ways that they’re essentially dead inside.

What these spaces need is to be occupied by a family with three children under ten. A few wax crayons crushed under foot at one in the morning would sort this out.
